Loop a video

Repeat a clip 2 to 10 times inside one file, so it plays on loop wherever you post it. Copied, not re-encoded.

Choose a video .mov, .mp4 or .m4v. It stays on this device.

How it works

  1. Choose the video.
  2. Pick how many times it should play.
  3. Press Loop video and save the longer file.

Most players and apps have a repeat setting, but it does not travel with the file. Sending someone a clip or posting it somewhere without a loop option means it plays once. This tool writes the repeats into the video itself, without re-encoding, so a 4 second clip played 5 times becomes one 20 second file that plays the same everywhere.

Questions

Why does the picture jump at the join?
Because the last frame does not match the first. A seamless loop needs the clip cut at two frames that look the same. The full editor has a loop finder that searches the clip for that match.

Does it lose quality?
No. The video stream is copied across untouched, so the picture is bit for bit the same as the original.

Can I make a looping GIF?
This tool exports MP4. For social posts MP4 is the better choice anyway: smaller file, better colour, and it loops automatically on Instagram and TikTok.

How long should a loop be?
Short. Two to six seconds reads as deliberate; longer loops read as a video that happens to repeat.

Is my video uploaded?
Not unless you choose "On our server". By default everything runs inside your browser and the file never leaves your device. The server option uploads the clip, processes it and deletes it right after the download.

Is there a size limit?
In the browser the clip has to fit in memory, which on a phone means roughly up to a few hundred megabytes. Larger files run fine with "On our server".
