Rotate a video
Sideways or upside down? Turn it 90 or 180 degrees. The rotation is written into the file without re-encoding, so nothing is lost.
How it works
- Choose the video.
- Pick turn left, turn right or upside down. The preview turns with it.
- Press Rotate video and save the result.
A video file carries a rotation flag, and that flag is the usual reason a clip looks fine on your phone but sideways on someone else's laptop. This tool sets the flag to the orientation you chose and copies the video untouched, so the result is lossless and takes seconds. Every modern player reads the flag the same way.
Questions
Does rotating lose quality?
No. Only the orientation flag changes; the picture itself is copied as is.
Can I straighten a slightly tilted video?
Rotation works in 90 degree steps. For a horizon that is two degrees off, use the tilt slider in the full editor, which turns and crops in slightly so no corners show.
Can I mirror a video instead?
Not here. The full editor has a mirror toggle for selfie footage that reads backwards.
Does it work on iPhone?
Yes. Open this page in Safari, pick the video from Photos, and use "Save video" when it is done to put the result back into Photos.
Is my video uploaded?
Not unless you choose "On our server". By default everything runs inside your browser and the file never leaves your device. The server option uploads the clip, processes it and deletes it right after the download.
Is there a size limit?
In the browser the clip has to fit in memory, which on a phone means roughly up to a few hundred megabytes. Larger files run fine with "On our server".
